The Power of AI: A New Technological Revolution
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been at the forefront of technology so far in 2023. Lots of tools have emerged recently, allowing people in all fields to simplify and automate their processes, making it easier for employees to get results in only a fraction of the time. These new technologies have given users results in marketing, art, music, writing, coding, and more.
So how effective are these AI tools and can they really be a replacement for employees?
The Extent of AI
AI has risen recently, partly due to the ongoing success of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot where users can input questions to get answers taken from online databases that were previously fed to the bot.
Results have been unprecedented, and people have begun to look more into AI and what it can do for their businesses. The 2023 Nvidia Game Developers Conference (GDC) unveiled new tools for users that were at the forefront of innovation.
Firstly, Nvidia AI now allows users to create ultra-realistic path tracing with DLSS 3, perfect for game developers who need these tools to perform productively, delivering “realistic graphics with incredible performance” to games such as A Plague Tale Requiem and Cyberpunk 2077.
Other major developers, such as Epic Games, have announced the introduction of the DLSS Frame Generation in its Unreal Engine 5.2 plugin to give developers “a great choice for increased quality and performance of their games”, according to the Epic Games VP of Engineering, Nick Penwarden.
AI and Avila Virtual Assistant
Here at Avila Virtual Assistant (AVA), we believe in technology as a tool that can be used by Virtual Assistants (VAs) to make their processes smoother and automated. While some argue that AI is here to replace us, we differ from this opinion, and here is why.
A report published by MercyCare explores the Health Benefits of Social Interaction, explaining that social interactions “boost your mental health, lower risk of dementia, promote a sense of belonging, and allow you to trust others.” While it refers to in-person interactions, we are strong believers in the fact that human interactions at work-whether virtual or in-person-will never be replaced by machines.
Goldman-Sachs becomes one of the main critics of AI and its power, citing that AI has potentially detrimental effects on the global workforce, “extrapolating our estimates globally suggests that generative AI could expose the equivalent of 300mn full-time jobs to automation”.
The Future of Life Institute drafted an open letter to OpenAI and other AI-developing labs urging them to stop working on tools more powerful than GPT-4, with it in itself being 100x more powerful than GPT-3, allowing users to translate languages, answer questions, summarize text, and generate videos and images.
However, one key element is missing: AI is not infallible, and while these labs keep working to create tools that are more powerful than the last one, humans can course-correct, teach, and model these tools to their liking, meaning that no matter how powerful AI is when used without supervision, it creates content that is boring and generic, as explained by Personal Brand Strategist, Melissa Henry and Speaker and Client Generation Strategist, Mary Cravets.
So… What Is Our Stance?
AVA believes in AI as a supporting tool for our VAs. We acknowledge technology and how far its come, and we strive every day to make both our jobs and our clients’ lives easier, and technology is at the forefront of our mission.
AVA was started in 2019 as an opportunity for Venezuelan professionals to enter the international job market, and even before the pandemic, our mission was to provide valuable human labor to busy professionals. As our Founder, Jose Sanchez, puts it, “creating quality opportunities for great talent through the advantages of remote work. Our company is about fostering trust, productivity, and results without limits by matching entrepreneurs and companies with the appropriate remote worker. We are all about connecting growth.”
Using AI tools has served our copywriters to come up with more quality copy to generate content for our clients, our video editors to access easier tools that give both content ideas and shortcuts that otherwise would be impossible, and our coders to write flawless code in no time.
On top of that, AI is helpful in any industry, which is why our VAs are trained to use only the most innovative and novel tools available. Want to learn more? Book a Discovery Call with us to learn all about our capabilities and our reach.
