Overcoming the vicious cycle of early unemployment
When we think about Socialism, in the Venezuelan context, we see as a result a complete destruction of the liberal values of work, those same values that built the western capitalism, as the best way to structure a productive society. The goal of those liberal values is to promote development so as to significantly reduce national & international poverty levels.
After 20 years of a system that destroys the value of work, what we can see is a ton of vicious cycles, most of them are mental, and some are pushed by the ‘traditional way of doing things’.
The cycle that we are aiming to overcome is the following: “You don’t have a job because you don’t have experience, and you don’t have experience, because you don’t have a job.” “But I can be awesome!” Would be the reply to any of the AVA’s if they were exposed to that situation, in Venezuela, they usually are.
So, the virtual assistant starts to work as a VA, mainly, for experience! For getting to know and understand business when living in a country that business is, you know, bad. You can be considered a homeland traitor. Of course, you will be going the opposite way to that which the system promotes.
Once a VA breaks the experience vicious cycle of lack of experience, they make the breakthrough to show their talent, education, creativity and a variety of virtues of which we have been pleasantly surprised. That’s there, but is like a muscle you need to exercise with a frequency, a routine that obliges you to absorb new ideas and formats that gives you the best result, as a consequence of everything that you have done.
When we compare unemployment to our 50-people agency, we understand there’s a lot to keep doing, we have a big hill to climb. The good news, is that we are in all disposition to get there, and transform unproductive time into completed tasks, unemployment into fulfillment jobs, poverty into development. We will need to keep working hard, smart and together to get every day closer to this infinite goal.
