Our Passion for Remote Work: Why we do what we do?
From sole proprietor businesses to large corporations the 2020 made the world´s businesses realize the importance of offering alternatives to the workforce that enable them to improve, grow and create their products and services.
Early in this decade, remote work started to become a “thing”, a new exciting concept. Probably software developers were the first group of workers to win the “working remotely” battle, followed by designers, creators, writers. Now, this year the world saw a massive leap forward in the concept´s development and popularity. At a time when businesses were shifting from analog to digital, along comes a pandemic that put the entire world into their houses. With the absolute necessity to maintain as much productivity as possible, working remotely, this past year, was not the exception but the rule. And in the vast majority of cases, it worked.
In Venezuela, remote work has passed from being unknown to a popular solution for getting a good job without leaving the country. The complex situation that this country is experiencing can be summarized by describing a 20-year system that does not value people’s time. Thus, remote working on behalf of advanced economies has been a way to provide a positive alternative to the path that the current system wants to take this society.
In the case of Avila VA, we have been seeing this seismic change in work habits from the time when it was really hard to explain what a Virtual Assistant was, the tasks they do and how they bring value to all kinds of organizations and businesses. VA’s have become essentials for profitable businesses. Now, as remote work is, let’s say, a Covid friendly item, the Virtual Assistant concept is much easier to comprehend. Maybe the new challenge is to keep innovation moving forward, if we felt that we were a step ahead a year ago, now when everybody works from home, what is the next step? That is the question rounding permanently in our minds now.
Since our beginnings, back in 2016, we have provided services to 30 different States in the US, around 10 different countries in Europe, and we have had a great experience in Australia. We, as a small business, can say to ourselves, that we are a worldwide small business. That works.
In all these experiences, we have discovered that we can work with anyone, anywhere, if, and only if, we share values like respect, honesty, hard work, team work, cooperation and optimism. The goal is not to do business with people that need what you have, the goal is to do business with people that believe what you believe. Of course this is not easy, but it is the right pathway to find joy, develop trust and have the sense of loving our job.
The essence of our business is to combine these principles with skills, creativity, the right platforms, smooth processes and consistent management. This brings priceless value to our partners and customers. We also believe that earning trust must be a main goal. We believe in connecting growth.
Looking at the tremendous pace of digitalization, it is not a choice to be optimistic but our responsibility, almost an obligation. As it is an obligation to empower ourselves and keep oppose a system that thinks that time is a free ride and not our most important asset.
We are very optimistic about 2021. As we were last year, and the year before. Our experience has strengthened our belief that the value of innovation is priceless both conceptually and practically. The secret ingredient is the ability to implement ideas, once conceived. Virtual Assistance services will continue to see more innovation, relevant to the world of commerce, industry and the visual arts. It is our job, at AVA to be at the forefront in continuously improving our cost effectiveness, range of services and the quality of our VAs because we truly feel that the future will be better since we have the right fundamental values which enable us to provide our clients with a quality, professional service.
